Band Zine

There are four venues left in this city that will book a band nobody has heard of, and two of them are basements. Nothing writes about them. The listings sites gave up around 2019 and the algorithm has never once put a local show in front of me. So: a zine. Every issue is one interview, whatever records turned up, and photographs from rooms I was actually standing in. No scores out of ten. If it's in here, it was worth the door price.

You've been playing together for three years and this is the first thing you've recorded. What took so long? We were bad. That's the honest answer. We could have recorded the bad version and put it out and it would exist forever, and instead we played about ninety shows and got less bad. Does the room change what you write? Completely. Everything on this record is built for a small room with a low ceiling. We tried one of them at a festival in the afternoon and it evaporated. Some songs need walls. What's the plan now? Play it until we're sick of it, then write the next one. That's been the plan every year and I don't expect it to change.

Write two or three short reviews here. A few sentences each is plenty — say what it sounds like, say who it's for, and say whether you'd play it twice. The useful review is the one that helps someone decide. "Sounds like the first record but recorded properly" tells me more than a paragraph of adjectives ever will. Name the label and where to buy it. Half the point of a zine like this is that somebody actually goes and buys the thing.
