    FAQ

    Questions, answered

A zine (short for magazine) is a small, self-published work — articles, images, quotes, poems, photographs, or any mix of them. Zines have a long history in indie art, music, activism, and education, and they're one of the few formats where making it yourself is the whole point.

Building is free and always will be — every template, every section type, unlimited zines and images, no account required to start. You can also download a watermarked PDF for free to check how it turned out. The clean, print-quality PDF without the watermark is a one-off $2.99 for that zine. There is no subscription.

Not to build, and not to buy. You can go from this page to a finished zine without creating anything. Signing in saves your zines so you can come back to them; paying creates an account automatically on the email you give us.

Yes — that's what the paid export is for. It comes out at print resolution with each section on its own page, so you can send it straight to a home printer or a print shop.

No. The layouts are fixed and editorial — you supply words and pictures, and the typography, columns, drop-caps, and page structure are handled. There is nothing to drag or align.

Yes. The zine is yours with no licence attached. Sell it at a fair, put it in a shop, give it away — we don't take a cut.

JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. Use the highest resolution you have if you're planning to print — the export preserves image quality, but it can't invent detail that wasn't there.

Your first zine is about ten minutes away

Open a template, replace the words with yours, and see the finished thing. Decide about the $2.99 after that — not before.
